Here's a cool cover feature I shot for Swerve Magazine, accompanying a story by Greg Williams about a local, charitable car collector, Fred Phillips, and his insane stable of vintage cars. You can read the full story and view more photos here: The Heart of Vroom!
Swerve is an award-winning weekly magazine available every Friday in the Calgary Herald newspaper.
We shot several of Fred's cars in a shot amount of time, but with some prep work and an organized shot list, we managed to capture a nice variety of images. The entire piece turned out really well. It was refreshing to shoot cars in this biographical, documentary context...a story about a car owner and his environment, and not so much 'car shoot.'
Despite being published in various magazines across the globe, this was my first proper local contribution. Yet, just as gratifying if not more so...finally, over ten years later, family and friends got a much better, broader opportunity to see my work. And it showed up at their doorstep.
